It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Jane Thibodeaux Hanks announces her passing from this life on Oct. 8, 2018, at the age of 82.

Closing prayer will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 at 10 a.m.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home today, Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., with a Scripture Service at 6 p.m., with Richard Louviere officiating. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 10, until the time of her Closing Prayer at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Lake Arthur to Alice and Olite Simon Benoit on Oct. 28, 1935. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She liked to going to the French dance and listening to music. She especially loved the time she was able to spend with all of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Hanks of Scott; her three daughters, Debra Ann Hebert (Roger) of Iota, Angie Thornton (Sammy) of Sulphur and Diane Whitley (Lon) of Moss Bluff; her seven grandchildren, Chris, Shawn, Justin, Troy, Bryan, Chasity and Kelly; and her five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Avery, Taylen, Tatum and Grady.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Olite Benoit; her first husband, Hubert Thibodeaux; and her two brothers, Stanley and Donald Benoit.

Carrying Dorothy to her final resting place will be Chris, Shawn and Justin Hebert, Troy Nix, Bryan Nix Ousse and Sammy Thornton.
