It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lonnie A. Dailey announces his passing from this life on March 15, 2018 at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Clifton LeJeune officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning on Friday, March 16, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 17, from 8 a.m. until the time of his service at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in High Island Cemetery in High Island, Texas, with Graveside Services at 3:30 p.m.

Lonnie was born in High Island, Texas, to Percy Arond Dailey and Tralice Norma Trump Dailey on Aug. 16, 1934. He worked as a Tool pusher for Penrod Drilling for over 30 years. Lonnie loved drilling water wells, traveling, cooking and socializing with family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lonnie never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lonnie is survived by his four daughters, Valerie Carney (Howard) of Tallulah, Glenda Bergeaux (Tony) of Jennings, Connie Dailey Lopez (Harold Quebedeaux) of Jennings and Tracy Bearb (Judd) of Overland Park, Kan.; his six grandchildren, Jill Chambers, Stuart Bergeaux, Ashley Quebedeaux, Jared Quebedeaux, Lance Lopez and Jayden Bearb; his eight great-grandchildren, Blake and Bryce Chambers, Colton, Collier and Camden Bergeaux, Luna and Kaden Lantier and Remy Mata; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Dailey of Austin, Texas.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Tralice Dailey his beloved wife, Shirley Leger Dailey; his two brothers, Harry and George Dailey; his son-inlaw, Terry Lopez; and his grandson, Guy Lopez.

Carrying Lonnie to his final resting place will be Harold Quebedeaux, Tony Bergeaux, Judd Bearb, Howard Carney, Jacob Chambers, Jayden Bearb, Colton Bergeaux, Jared Quebedeaux and Lance Lopez.
