Martha Jean Johnson-Boutte

Funeral services for Martha Jean Johnson-Boutte, 77, will be held in the David J. And Rosa W. Fondel Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings today, Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Betty Etienne officiating.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel from 8-10:45 a.m.

Interment will follow in Benevolent Cemetery.

Martha Jean Johnson-Boutte was born on April 1, 1941, in Morse. Martha departed this life on Dec. 2, 2018. Martha accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jennings. Martha attended Jefferson Davis High School in Jennings. She united in marriage to John B. Boutte, Sr., and to this union five children were born.

Martha loved to cook and went to culinary school in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was employed by Jake Samara Fine Italian Restaurant, which started the “make your own pizzas.” She worked with many restaurants in Jennings. While in Louisiana, Martha was very active with voter registration and worked at the polling centers in Jefferson Davis Parish.

Martha leaves to cherish her memory her children, Debra Walker of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rayford Johnson of Jennings, Joanetta M. Boutte of Oklahoma City, Okla, Sondra M. Boutte of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Sophia Boutte (Rev. Clinton) Perry of Jennings; one grandson, John B. Moss, Sr. of Oklahoma City, Okla; two greatgrandsons and two great granddaughters; a Godchild, Arthur “Teenie” Etienne; two sisters, Betty A. Johnson of San Mateo, Calif., and Ruthie M. Johnson of Jennings; her special first cousin, Carolyn Carter of Jennings; a devoted friend, Cynthia McLean of Fayetteville, N.C.; a foster daughter, Donna Moss of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Narcisse and Mary Johnson; her brother, Norris Johnson; and one son, George C. Boutte.
