Betty was born in Leesville to Alvin Gordy and Evelyn Bolton on Feb. 3, 1939.

She was their only daughter. Betty worked for the Council on Aging as an assistant director. She was a woman of faith and could be seen in the pews of First Church of Christ every Sunday, dressed to the nines and beautifully made up. Betty was an excellent cook and baker and hosted Sunday family dinners for many years. Her sweet tea was second to none. Betty cherished the time she was able to spend with all of her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, but the legacy of her kind spirit and warm smile will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters, Rhonda Stinson Smith (Brian) of Jennings and Jackie Stinson Harris (John) of Houston, Texas, and a beloved grandmother to her two grandchildren, Kimberly Smith (Leslie Trahan) of Lafayette and Kailey Harris Graybill (Bryce) of Houston, Texas.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Evelyn Gordy; and her beloved husband of 25 years, Bill Chapman.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Camelot Brookside and Lamm Hospice. Both provided exceptional and invaluable care and comfort during the final years of her life.
