Carl ‘Shorty’ James Trahan

The family and friends of Carl “Shorty” James Trahan are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Sept. 6, 2021, at the age of 64.

Funeral services for Carl Trahan will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation, at the request of the family, was held at the funeral home from 2:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume today, Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, from 8 a.m. until the time of his service.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Carl was born in Jennings to Alfred Trahan and Ophelia Beard Trahan. For 40 years, he worked as a volunteer firefighter with the Jennings Fire Department. Carl was a member of Lake Arthur Boat Club and Friends Supporting Friends. He enjoyed doing mechanic work, but also loved spending his free time fishing and hunting. Carl will be significantly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Carl is survived by his wife, Wanda Trahan of Jennings; daughters, Amy Trahan (Angela) of Jennings and Jamie Trahan (Mike) of Jennings; brother, Paul (Cindy) Trahan of Jennings; and sisters, Peggy (Roger) Landry of Lake Charles and Ann (Raymond) Brown of Roanoke.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ophelia B. Trahan; and brothers, Darrell and Neal Trahan.
