Colonel Colin Francis “Frank” Fake, 86, of Jennings passed from this life Feb. 6, 2022.

First Baptist Church of Jennings will hold a visitation Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Born June 25, 1935, in Blackpool, England, to Colin Fake and Lilian Fake Bicknell, Colin “Frank” Fake was a loving husband and father, a decorated member of the U.S. Air Force and a devoted educator.

Colin led an exemplary life filled with accolades and contributions that will continue his legacy far into the future. His education was extensive and esteemed. He was a graduate of Lincoln County High in Panace, Nev. He held multiple degrees from McNeese State University in Lake Charles and from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

He remained involved in education from his time as a middle school teacher in 1962 to his retirement as adjunct professor at McNeese in 1996. In his teaching career, Colin received multiple Outstanding Instructor and Teacher of the Year awards and was even recognized as a State Teacher of the Year Finalist in 1986.

He developed and instructed the first Marine Drafting course in the State of Louisiana for Sowela Technical Institute in Lake Charles, where he was a teacher and charter member of the Louisiana-Vocational-Technical Drafting Instructor’s Association.

Colin’s love of flying and teaching others to love and respect flying made him many friends and led to various military and civilian vocations. He was an outstanding U.S. Air Force serviceman who served from 1953 to 1965 in various bases in America, Italy and Germany. He continued to serve his country in the Civil Air Patrol, becoming a Wing Commander of Louisiana and ending his service as Southwest Region Commander, serving five states. He earned the highest academic honor in CAP, the Gill Robb Wilson Award, as well as the Frank G. Brewer Aerospace Education Award.

His awards and honors are numerous from both the Air Force and various institutions.

He was an active member of the Baptist Mission in Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Colorado. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Jennings and as a consultant and coordinator for the Louisiana Baptist Convention in 1975. His love of the Lord and willingness to serve his community in every capacity will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Colin is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Bivens Fake, and son, Lin Fake (Shane Crochet) of Jennings; his stepdaughters, Carlena Lundy and Jacqueline Roe of Lake Charles; and his stepson, Richard (Kristi) Waltrip, Jr., of Lafayette. Colin is also survived by his sisters, Carol (Dave) Miller of Panace, Nev., and Rose Johnny of Princeton, W.V., along with many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Colin was preceded in death by his father, Colin Fake; his mother, Lilian Fake Bicknell; his stepfather, Clifford Becknell; his sister, Lois Becknell; and his first wife, Eva Shirley Fake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A Block Off
