A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for David N. LeJeune, 70, who died Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at 9:27 a.m. in Iota.

Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated the services.

The family requested visiting hours be held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, from noon until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8-10:45 p.m. A rosary was recited Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Burial was in St. Joseph Mausoleum under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Iota.

David was a native and lifelong resident of Iota. He was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish. He worked for Mesa/Pioneer Natural Resources for 30 years before retiring from PPI and thoroughly enjoyed his many days of crawfishing from his ponds. He attended all events that involved his children and grandchildren as they were his pride and joy and his life revolved around them. He was the best husband, dad and paw paw.

Mr. LeJeune is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Melinda Andrepont LeJeune of Iota; two daughters, Jeanne L. Eddins and her husband Kirby “Lee” of Iota and Tori Johnson and her husband Eric of Iota; two sons, Chris LeJeune and his wife Hanna of Iota and Joe LeJeune and his wife Jamie of Iota; 10 grandchildren, William LeJeune, Cole Eddins, Garrett Eddins, Madeline Eddins, Jake Johnson, Jackson LeJeune, Leven LeJeune, Hadley Johnson, Stranton Johnson and Grady LeJeune; special family friend, Justin LeJeune of Tee Mamou; two sisters, Anita L. Dupre and her husband Fee of Ritchie and Marlene L. Gotte and her husband Bobbie of Iota; and two brothers, Thomas C. LeJeune and his wife Sheryl of Branch and Ed L. LeJeune and his wife Kathy of Iota.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Willa Hebert LeJeune; two brothers, Curry K. LeJeune and Lyle LeJeune; and two nephews, Jason P. LeJeune and Darren K. LeJeune.

Pallbearers were Chris LeJeune, Joe LeJeune, William LeJeune, Cole Eddins, Garrett Eddins and Jake Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas LeJeune, Ed LeJeune, Eric Johnson, Lee Eddins and Justin LeJeune.
