GUEYDAN — The family and friends of Delores Cormier Trahan are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Dec. 9, 2023 at the age of 88. Delores was born in Crowley to Clarvey Cormier, Sr. and Yolande Duhon on Sept. 27, 1935. She was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to caring for her family. Delores loved the time she spent with her children and all of the rest of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Delores is survived by her sons, Saul (Liz) Broussard, Randy (Nora) Broussard; her niece, Sharon (Blue) Perry, Mark (Linda) Richard; her grandchildren, Naomi (Mike) Smith, Stacy (Brandy) Broussard, Renee (Jack) Arceneaux, Kimberly Hodge; her twelve great grandchildren; her three great-great grandchildren.

Delores was preceded in death by her father, Clarvey Cormier, Sr.; her mother, Yolande D. Theriot; her brother, Clervis “Buddy” Cormier; her sister, Nora C. Bonin; her son, Dane A. Broussard; her granddaughter, Tiffany Broussard; her husband, Sidney J. Broussard.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at 10 a.m. Burial followed in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Those chosen to honor Delores as her pallbearers were Mike Smith, Keegan Smith, Stacy Broussard, Slade Broussard, Mike Cormier and Jack Arceneaux.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.
