Donald was born Oct. 14, 1938, to Whitney Broussard and Annie Legere Broussard. He was called from this earthly life by his Heavenly Father on Jan. 12, 2022.

Donald served his country honorably in the Marines. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding horses, competing in rodeos, working cattle and farming.

Donald was a very diverse man throughout his life. He worked abroad for the U.S. Embassy, as an agriculture specialist in Africa and Brazil and worked as a welder, as well as being a manager for Whitney’s Hunting Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing, watching rodeo competitions, wrestling, Western movies and reading. Most of all Donald loved spending time with his family

Most of all Donald loved spending time with his family and his pet chimpanzee, “Jr.” He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donald is survived by his two sons, Donald Kelly Broussard of Gueydan and Shane Luke Broussard of Lake Charles; his three daughters, Katrina Anne Fuselier (Jimmy) of Lake Arthur, Christina Marie Fields (James) of Jennings and Jeni Maria Richard of Jennings; his sister, Rita Yvonne Benoit (Donald) of Lake Arthur; and his longtime companion, Barbara Bryant of Lake Arthur.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Annie Broussard; his former wife and mother of his children, Ethel Jean Broussard; and his late wife, Jane Trahan Broussard.

The family of Mr. Donald Broussard would like to express a special thank you to all the staff at Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as to his sitters, Sissy Broussard, Ursula Caro and Shannon Guidry, for their kindness and compassionate care during our family’s time of need.
