JENNINGS - Funeral services for Mrs. Edolia Brown Dartez, 68, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019, at St. Paul Baptist Church, located at 1502 S. Main Street in Jennings, with Rev. Pernell Trent, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Jennings.

Mrs. Dartez passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at her residence in Jennings.

Edolia B. Dartez was born August 13, 1950, in Lafayette to the late Anthony and Theresa Brown, Sr., and departed this life July 16, 2019. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in St. Paul Baptist Church under the direction of the late Pastor John Wilkerson, where she remained a church member until her illness and death.

For many years, she worked for the Hobson family, who became family to her. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Jennings, Class of 1968. After graduating high school, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Alton F. Dartez, Sr. Two children were born to this union, Tammy Dartez and Alton F. Dartez, Jr.

Mrs. Edolia was the most loving, caring and giving person you would ever want to meet. She enjoyed cooking and baking not only for her family, but for relatives and friends. Her favorite pastime was watching television and enjoying company from her family and friends.

She worked for Jeff Davis Parish School Food Services at Ward Elementary for 26 years and enjoyed working with her staff.

She will always be cherished by her family and loved ones.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Alton F. Dartez, Jr. (Shelia) of Jennings; four sisters, Sharon Brown Greeley (Richard) of San Antonio, Texas, Mary E. Cormier (Willie), Marilyn E. White and Ann Brown, all of Jennings; two brothers, Anthony Brown, Jr. (Tammy) of Pittsburg, Calif., and John Neal, Sr., of Jennings; mother in law, Leanna (Pete) Dartez; three grandchildren, Wilbert Lee Guillory, Jr. (Davilyn), Desera Denay Grimes and Trevor Lee Guillory, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Tammy Lynn Edwards; two Godchildren, Randel Keith Alfred and Donna Lynn White; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and two close friends, Rose Marie Perkins and Gerald Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton F. Dartez, Sr.; her parents, Anthony and Theresa Brown, Sr.; and her daughter, Tammy Dartez-Guillory.
