Edward ‘Bateast’ Nixon

Homegoing celebration services for Edward “Bateast” Nixon, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in the Church Chapel, with Reverend Kimberly Richard officiating.

Edward was born Oct. 11, 1937, in Roanoke to Nathan and Edna Nixon and was a resident of Jennings. Edward entered into eternal rest at his residence Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019.

He was a retired laborer with the railroad and later worked at WalMart. Edward served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Barbara Gayle (Ronald) Rideaux of Houston, Texas, Lucretia Achane of Jennings, Renita Duplechan of Memphis, Tenn., and Shimirra Boudreaux of Jennings; three sons, Devon Boudreaux, Lewis Boudreaux and Donald (Shanella) Boudreaux; one brother, Joe (Laura) Nixon of Jennings; sisters, Willie Belle George of Lake Charles, Odile (Otis) Williams of Abbeville, Cecelia Byers, Mathilda Byers and Beatrice (Alfred) Zachary, all of Jennings; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a longtime special friend, Corlita Savoy of Jennings.
