A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, from 3:30-9 p.m, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume today, Wednesday, from noon until the time of her funeral mass.

Frances will be laid to rest in Doucet Cemetery.

Frances was born in Jennings on Dec. 30, 1923, to Frank Lavergne and Clara LeBlanc Lavergne. Frances was a wife and aunt whose greatest pleasure came from her love for her family. She was a graduate of Jennings High School Class of 1942. Frances worked for the Department of Health for 31 years. Her and her husband, Julius, also owned and operated The American Shoe Service in Jennings for many years. Frances was also very faithful member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church where she taught catechism for 15 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Ladies Altar Society for 64 years and she also was the head of the Bereavement Food Committee for many years. Her kind, caring actions and words taught all who knew her the definitions of love and family.

Frances is survived by two great-nephews, Russell Lavergne and Frank Lavergne (Liz); her great niece-in-law, Cindy Lavergne Broussard; as well as several more nieces and nephews.

Frances now rejoices in Heaven with her parents, Frank and Clara LeBlanc Lavergne; her beloved husband, Julius Savoy; and her sister, Nola Mae Doucet.

Carrying Frances to her final resting place will be Carl Meaux, Jared Meaux, Dustin Lavergne, Frank Lavergne, Frank “Bubba” Lavergne, Jr., and Nick Pizzolatto.
