LAKE ARTHUR — Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Duhon Trahan, 94, of Lake Arthur were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.

Visitation began Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, from 3-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Tuesday from 8-9:30 a.m.

Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mrs. Trahan was born on Oct. 20, 1927, in Lake Arthur to Louistine and Salina Hanks Duhon.

She was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. She graduated from Lake Arthur High School as class valedictorian in 1945. She eventually went to work for the Jeff Davis Parish School Board as a cook. She was an active member of her community, where she was honored as Mother of the Year at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She was also honored as the Grand Marshall of the Lake Arthur Christmas parade.

Mrs. Grace was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Alter Society. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her home was a gathering for many. Many stories and meals were shared in her kitchen, but the most important things were laughter and love.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy (Leonard) Meaux and Mona (Tom) Landry; six grandchildren, Mary Katherine Trahan, Jerome Trahan, Jeff Meaux (Wayne Bebee), Jan (Corey) Conner, Sarah (Monty) Chapman and Scott (Holly) Landry; 10 great-grandchildren, Cadence, Elizabeth, Cason, Claire, Chloe, Cooper, Max, John Anthony, Gage and Brianna; one great great-grandchild; her brother, Harold Duhon of Bridge City, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Wilbur “Pete” Klein of Bridge City, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Trahan; her parents; a son, Wilbert Trahan; two sisters, Mildred Klein and Evelyn Vincent; and two brothers, Russell and Eugene Duhon.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Meaux, Wayne Bebee, Scott Landry, Corey Conner, Cason Conner and Roland Duhon.

Honorary pallbearers are Monty Chapman and Cooper and Max Landry.
