Mrs. Hale died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, in Austin, Texas.

Helen was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Estherwood to Orrin Joseph “OJ” and Allie Mae Guidry Bujol.

She married Edward Foster “Bunny’”Hale, Jr., in Lafayette on Dec. 28, 1944. She studied homemaking in college and she honed her skills raising six children and helping to raise two of her nine grandchildren. Helen and Bunny met while working at Southern Pacific Railroad together. Helen’s passion was gardening, which she enjoyed until she was no longer able. Helen was a fabulous woman with an open heart and an open mind. Helen was a huge giver, never expecting anything in return! She was an outstanding cook, and her dirty rice was unmatched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Bunny” Hale, Jr.; her parents, Orrin Joseph “OJ” and Allie Mae Bujol; brothers, Warren Bujol and Donald “DO” Bujol; and sisters, Baby Evelyn Marie Bujol and Rose Bujol.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
