LAKE ARTHUR โ€” A funeral mass for Mr. James Edward Stevens, 93, will be held Wednesday April 19, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Father Jay Alexius officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday April 18, 2023, in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Arthur from noon until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., and will resume Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time to leave for the church at 1:15 p.m.

Mr. Stevens was born on July 7, 1929, in Lake Arthur to John and Corinne Sweeney Stevens. He passed away on April 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Jimmy was a high school graduate of Lake Arthur High Class of 1948. He was selected as the most outstanding player on the football team his senior year.

After graduation, he served honorably in the United States Navy. He then went on to work for Superior Oil Company and then retired from Mobil after 36 years.

He married the one and only love of his life, Lula Trahan, on May 27, 1957.

He was a Godly man and always kept a strong relationship with our Lord. He was a wonderful husband, father and PaPaw and loved spending time with his family above all else. His quick wit and sense of humor was his true nature. His soft heart and loving nature will never be forgotten and he will always be loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lula Trahan Stevens; two daughters, Jackie and Angie Stevens, both of Lake Arthur; two sons, Randy (Christy) Stevens of Lake Arthur and Greg (Julie) Stevens of Cypress, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Irvin Bussy and Freddie Stevens.
