A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood for Kayla Broussard Lopez, 45, who passed away Aug. 13, 2021 at Jennings American Legion Hospital. Fr. Andrew Schumacher, pastor of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood, officiated the services.

The family requested visiting hours be held Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, from 4-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Monday from 8-10:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley.

Interment was in Estherwood Cemetery.

She is survived by four children, Hannah Annis Thibodeaux, Beaun Michael Thibodeaux, Rachel Kathryn Thibodeaux and Quinn Matthew Thibodeaux, all of Jennings; her parents, Greg and Joni Breaux Broussard of Estherwood; three brothers, Chad Broussard and his wife Rene’ of Crowley, Robbie Broussard and his wife Mary Katherine of Rayne and Ben Broussard of Crowley, her maternal grandmother, Idell B. Knepper of Crowley; her aunts and uncles, Vickie Broussard Carney (Bill), Joan Broussard Morgan (Jim), Dianne Broussard Hoyt (Max), Stephen Broussard (Lori), Monique Broussard Michot (Mike) and Cathy Breaux Mahaffey (Mark); nine nieces and nephews, Ashton and Reagan Wilburn, David, Brayden, Vivian, Isabelle, William, Thomas and Matthew Broussard; three godchildren, Christopher Mahaffey, Alexandra Broussard and Connor Broussard; and numerous cousins.

Kayla was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Robert C. “Bobby” Breaux; and paternal grandparents, J.B. and Gertrude Sellers Broussard; her maternal step-grandfather, Paul G. Knepper; and one uncle, Keith Broussard.

Pallbearers were David Broussard, Brayden Broussard, Connor Broussard, Christopher Mahaffey, Billy Carney, Spencer Hoyt, Mikey Michot and Patrick Broussard.

Readers were Alexandra Broussard, and Erin Carney.
