Lillian B. Johnson, 96, of Welsh passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Golden Age of Welsh care facility surrounded by her daughters.

The family welcomed friends to Hixson Welsh Chapel for visitation on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 9 a.m., with a rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. A scripture service followed at 11 a.m., led by Father Susil Fernando.

A funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors, with Father Alan Trouille officiating.

Gift bearers were her great-grandchildren, Kennedie Khoury, Katie Khoury and Luke Lanthier.

Lectors were her sister, Norma Northcutt, and her godchild, Kim Sherman.

A graveside service was held at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum following the funeral mass.

Lillian had a love for cooking and baking and shared her delicious food with the elderly and homebound. She and her late husband, Lee, were owners of Johnson’s hardware and giftware for 33 years until their retirement in 1989.

She was a past member of Catholic Daughters and served as a eucharist minister at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh. She was committed, faithful and devoted to her Catholic faith.

Lillian loved life to the fullest and looked forward to outings with her sister, Norma Northcutt, and her special friend, Esther Hebert.

Lilian is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Aza and Celize Blanchard; her husband of 65 years, Lee Johnson; her siblings, Ruth Fondon, Jeanette Morgan, Henry Blanchard, Bobby Blanchard, Hilda Blanchard, Aline Brown and James Blanchard and son-in-law John Hebert.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diana Khoury(Steve) of Sulphur and Vicki Arceneaux(Rick) of Welsh; grandchildren Stephen Khoury, Casey Khoury (Brooke), Kelly Lanthier (Darren) and Christopher Arceneaux (Maria); greatgrandchildren Kennedie Khoury, Kade Khoury, Katie Khoury, Brantli Buller, Bracey Buller, Britt Buller, Andrew Lanthier, Kaleb Lanthier and Luke Lanthier; sister Norma Northcutt; brother Roland Blanchard (Barbara); brothers-in-law Tommy Phillips and Larry Fondon (Barbara, and sister-in-law Millie Blanchard.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Khoury, Casey Khoury, Christopher Arceneaux, Kade Khoury, Andrew Lanthier and Kaleb Lanthier.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Golden Age of Welsh care facility and Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion provided to Lillian during this difficult time.
