Mary Novelle Coles

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mary Novelle Coles announces her passing from this life on July 10, 2020, at the age of 91.

A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Novelle Coles was held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings Monday, July 13, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Father Trey Ange officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings Sunday, July 12, from 3-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Monday, July 13, from 9 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial followed in Andrus Cove Cemetery.

Mary was born in Jennings to Valentine Langley and Katherine Logonin Langley on Jan. 29, 1929.

She dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. Mary loved to eat gumbo, and shop. She loved wearing nice clothes. Most of all, she loved spending time and making memories with her family and friends. Mary was a kind and loving soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Carole Anne Coles of Jennings; her brother, Elmer (Dee Dee) Langley of Jennings; her nephews, Dub Tucker and Edward Ray Tucker (Sara); her nieces, Dixie Langley, Janie and Edward Ray, Mertal Mallet, Kim, Mandy, Dale and Gloria Sarver and Mary Lake; as well as great friends, Judy Morgan and Betty Bertrand.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Katherine Langley; her husband, Leo Ray Coles; her brothers, Mark Langley and Wilbur Langley; and her sisters, Marie Crane, Beulah Comeaux and May Broussard.
