Funeral services for Mr. Paul De La Croix, Jr., 96, of Jennings will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at Our Lady Help of Christians, with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating.

Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, from 3:30-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mr. De La Croix passed away Dec. 14, 2021, in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home.

Mr. De La Croix was born in Hammond on Nov. 2, 1925, to Paul De La Croix, Sr., and Lydia Beebe De La Croix.

He graduated from Menard Memorial High School in Alexandria in 1943. Mr. De La Croix then enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He attended Louisiana Tech as a pitcher on the first ever baseball scholarship offered by the college.

“Coach Paul’s” career in education spanned 40 years as teacher and coach in Oakdale; teacher, coach and principal at Jennings High School; and concluded as secondary supervisor of Jeff Davis Parish.

One of his proudest accomplishments was organizing and serving as president for several years of the Jeff Davis Pachyderm Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Roma Nell Walker

De La Croix; daughters, Cherie (Emery) Dupuis of New Orleans, Denise (Larry) Daigle of Florida, Suzonne (Keith) Bourque of Shreveport and Deidre Macklen of South Carolina; son, Charlie (Jane) De La Croix of Greeley, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorita Aplin; and his son-in-law, Jim Macklen.

The family expresses deep appreciation for the loving care of our dad provided by the staff of Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home and LAMM Hospice.
