It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our husband, father, brother and friend, Rayford John Hargrave, passed away peacefully at home with the love of family and friends surrounding him on May 21, 2022.

A celebration of Rayford’s life was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 8 p.m., with Pastor John Cernek officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 4 p.m. until the time of his service at 8 p.m.

Rayford was born in Kaplan on Dec. 7, 1944, to Queling Hargrave and Clara Broussard Hargrave. Rayford worked as a farmhand and was a great provider for his family.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Rayford also loved spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and jokes to see people laugh and participating with his fellow Brothers at Arms.

Rayford was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rayford is survived by his wife, Ramona Romero Hargrave of Lyons Point; his three sons, Shane Hargrave, Brandon Hargrave and his wife Keisha Witman Hargrave, and John Thibodeaux and his wife, Dell Nelson Thibodeaux; his four daughters, Rachel Hargrave, Tuesdi Stipik and her husband Joey, Shantina Campbell, and Charmane Campbell; his 22 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Roberta Hargrave, Genevia Duhon and Jackie Vincent and his three brothers, Jimmy Hargrave, Dickie Hargrave and Alcide Hargrave.

Rayford was preceded in death by his father, Queling Hargrave; his mother, Clara Hargrave, and his son, Anthony Campbell.
