Reneé Fruge Smith

The family and friends of Reneé Fruge Smith are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Dec. 25, 2021, at the age of 67.

Funeral services for Reneé Fruge Smith, 67, of Jennings were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 2 p.m.

Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.

Reneé was born in Jennings to Leon Fruge and Isabelle Hebert on Aug. 6, 1954.

Reneé worked as a LPN, a job she loved. She loved animals and the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, traveling and shopping. Above all, Reneé adored her grandchildren and family, and she loved cookovers and get togethers. Reneé will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Reneé is survived by her husband of 30 years, Merrill Smith of Jennings; her three daughters, Tracey Boles Regan (Myles) of Jennings, Brandie Boles Mack (Bryan) of Jennings and Nicole Boles Cole of Jennings; and her grandchildren, Joshua Newman, Hunter LeJeune, Morgan Mack, Wyatt Cole, Alyssa Regan and Kamryn Cole.

Reneé was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Isabelle Fruge; one daughter, Melanie Boles Newman; and one brother, Robert “Bob” Fruge.

Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers will be Joshua Newman, Hunter LeJeune, Wyatt Cole, Brent Fruge, Bryan Mack and Wendell Fruge.
