JENNINGS/HATHAWAY — Funeral services for Reverend Dr. S. S. Poullard, ThD, who died Tuesday, March 14, 2023, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, in the chapel of Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.

Visitation will be held from 8-11 a.m.

Committal services will follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Crowley with Military Funeral Honors rendered by the United States Army.

Born on Nov. 6, 1950, he was 72 years old. Rev. Dr. Stacy Poullard was a member and pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Mermentau. He proudly served his country by joining the United States Army. He excelled in his studies at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was the first African American from the State of Louisiana appointed by the Late Governor Edwin Edwards to attend West Point.

He also studied at Marshall University and earned his bachelor’s degree from Upsala College. He also studied and earned his Theological Doctorate from Andersonville Theological Seminary of Camilla, Ga, and his Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, US Army Major Yolanda Wise-Poullard (Ret.) of Hathaway; his son, Boris Ivan Poullard; three daughters, Delia Poullard Jackson (Seth), of Newport News, Vir., Lorin Poullard Brewer (Aaron), of North Hollywood, Calif., and Alannah Camille Poullard of Hathaway; two grandchildren, Joel and Jael Jackson; two sisters, Patricia Poullard Davis (Melvin) of Alexandria and Veronica Poullard Montgomery of Lafayette; five brothers, Stanley Poullard (Julia) and Dwight Poullard (Barbara) of Crowley, Dexter Poullard, Sr. (Linda) of San Marcos, Texas, Kirk Poullard, Sr. (Shirley) of Albany, Ga., and Marcal Poullard (Shelia) of Mermentau Cove; special sister-in-law, Betty Wise; special nieces, Staci Henry, Brandy Landry and Brittaney Wilridge; 32 nephews and nieces; 46 grandnephews and nieces; longtime close friends Jaqueline and Charles Bailey; the members of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. Dr. Poullard was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace I and Eva Patterson Poullard, as well as one brother, Wallace Poullard, II.

Those chosen to honor him as his pallbearers will be Michael Wise, Brandon Wise, Reggie Winfield, Walden Poullard, Charles Bailey, Cedric Williams Sr. and Isaac Tyler, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will beTrey Lewis, Stanley Poullard, Dwight Poullard, Dexter Poullard, Sr., Kirk Poullard, Sr., Eric Winfield, Marcal Poullard, Joel Jackson, Darin Poullard, Al Himel, Johnathan Poullard, Aaron Brewer and Seth Jackson.
