Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Mae “Pie” Broussard Racca, 95 of Jennings will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. Racca will be held Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, from noon until 6 p.m. A rosary by the Catholic Daughters will begin at 2 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, Feb. 14, from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. before leaving for church.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mrs. Racca was born in Jennings on Dec. 30, 1926, to parents Gus and Emma Houssiere Broussard.

After her high school graduation, Mrs. Racca embarked on a journey through many careers. Her employment included Piggly Wiggly, Jennings Water Department, Racca’s Master Cleaners and Western Wear (co-owner and alterations), 7-Up and Pepsi Bottling, Evangeline Refinery Co. and Evr-wood.

She was also the owner and proprietor of Racca’s Korner, Inc., which included Pie’s Imports and Gifts, Western Wear, Self-service Gas Station, Snack Shop and Snow Kones, Hot Tamales, South of the Border Meat Pies, Ice Cream Parlor and Pie’s Bakery.

Mrs. Racca included in her spare time, her devotion to Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic and the Ladies Altar Society and meeting and socializing with her friends through the Square Shooters Dance Club and Blue Grass Friends Campers Group.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jane Racca Sneed of Jennings and Judy Racca (Dennis) Andrepont of Cypress, Texas; daughters-in-law, Joyce Morgan Racca of Iowa and Donette Woodruff Racca of Spring, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Howard Racca; her parents; two sons, Joseph “Butch” Howard Racca and Stephen Earl Racca; and his first wife, Sharon.

The family would like to give special thanks for the care given to their mother at Golden Age of Welsh and the kindness and caring of Heart of Hospice, and Valerie Charles and Kelli Hines.
