LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Mr. Rodney John Roche, 91, of Lake Arthur will be held Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Roche will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, in the Lake Arthur chapel from 2-9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Rodney was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Gueydan and lived his entire life in Lake Arthur. Mr. Roche was in the Army where he served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired farmer. He was named Rice Farmer of the Year in 1975.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Della Roche; daughter, Rita Annette (Scott) Holtmyer; sons, Daniel (Marlene) Roche, Allen (Ginger) Roche and Neil Roche; one sister, Mildred Ann Roche (Anthony Kouzounis); four stepdaughters, Becky (Doug) Barberousse, Monica (Herbert) Hayes, Angie (Greg) Thibodeaux and Stacey Russell; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elue and Ednaze Roche; his first wife, Mary Regina Roche; daughter, Theresa Rose Roche; and two sisters, Myrdie Rose Boudreaux and Anna Lou Simpson.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers: Annetta Hawkins, Marlene Broussard, Rachel Dugas, Polly Bellard, Madeline Bonin, Ursala Karo, Becky and Doug Barbarousse and Angie and Greg Thibodeaux. They would also like to give a special thanks to Heart of Hospice.
