Roxanne ‘Rocky’ Freyou-Gist

Roxanne Freyou-Gist (Rocky) received her wings in the comfort of her home on Oct. 26, 2021, following a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Visitation will be held today, Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Visitation will begin Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at 10 a.m., with services at 2 p.m. followed by graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Born March 19, 1951, to Eddie Luke Freyou and Ferna Lou Manuel-Freyou, she was their only child and the apple of their eye.

A 1969 graduate of Jennings High School, she loved her membership in the JHS Bulldog band. There is where she met her lifelong best friend, Frieda Daigle-Simoneaux.

Rocky’s physical beauty and her kind, loving personality made her a hit wherever she went.

Rocky met the love of her life, Tun C. Gist II, while in high school and became Tun’s bride of 51-plus years on July 25, 1970. Together they had three beautiful children, Tun Cory Gist, Christopher Wade Gist (Amanda Hudson-Gist) and Kaly Jeanne’ Gist, which they raised in Jennings.

Rocky was beyond blessed with seven grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally, and each loved their Mere’ Mere’ dearly: Kamryn Randolph, Dylan Johnson (Hannah), Jordan Gist, Hunter Jones, Jaxson Jones, Dane Gist and Gracie Gist.

Rocky was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Luke Freyou; her mother, Ferna Lou Manuel-Freyou; and her oldest son, Tun Cory Gist.

Rocky’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to Lamm Hospice, especially to Ashley, Frieda and Mark for the loving support and care given during her final time. Her family will carry her to her final resting place.

Her family will carry her to her final resting place.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Amy Tucker Scholarship fund. Please make contributions payable to Amy Tucker Scholarship Fund, at BankCorpSouth, 101 West Main St., Eldorado AR 71730.
