Wilber James Reon

A graveside military service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, for Wilber James Reon, who died Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, in Youngsville.

Services will be held at Andrus Cove Cemetery in Lake Arthur under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.

Wilber was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Hackberry and spent most of his school years in Welsh where he loved, played and excelled in all sports. He and his beloved late wife, Judy, owned and operated Reon’s TV and then Radio Shack in Jennings for many years.

Wilber spent the last few years with his time divided between his homes in Jennings and Youngsville. Wilber was truly a people person and had many friends in both cities.

Loving to laugh, tell stories and sing-a-longs, Wilber was a jokester who had an amazing sense of humor. He loved video poker at casinos and day trips with no particular destination in mind. His passion was being outdoors, tending to his flowers and plants that he was so proud of and was happy to share with others.

Wilber proudly served the country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings and St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Elmo Reon; his wife, Judith Baker Reon; their son, Michael Reon; and a sister, Glenda Reeves.

Wilber is survived by his sister, Ruby Arceneaux; his brother, Irvy and wife Sandy Reon of Bell City; his grandsons, Keagen, Zack and Vann Reon; and his friend and companion, Gloria Duhon.

Special thanks to Dr. Adam Foreman, Dr. John Alldredge and Hospice of Acadiana for the wonderful care they provided. Thank you also to Eddie Reeves for his unfailing love, help and support.
