It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Sidney Hollier announces his passing from his earthly life on Oct. 25, 2018, at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at 3 p.m., with Father Susil Fernando, Father Keith Pellerin, and Father Tony Fontenot officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held

at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass, with a rosary recited at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Sidney was born in Jennings on Aug. 24, 1937, to Lawrence Hollier and Alcidee Miller Hollier. Sidney worked as a self-employed farmer for 60 years. He served in the National Guard, was a member of Immaculate Conception Church Finance Council and a was eucharistic minister for Immaculate Conception Church, a FSA Board Member and Past Chairman, a Member of the LA Rice Growers Association, a Charter Member of Jeff Davis Farmer Coop, a Member of Farm Bureau, Charter Member of the South LA Rail Facility and a Member of the Finance Committee at Jeff Davis Bank.

Sidney loved the outdoors, duck and dove hunting, shrimping and crabbing. His passion was for rice, soybean, crawfish and grain sorghum farming and providing for his family. His greatest joy was the time he was able to spend with his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. Sidney was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sidney is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Pansy LeBoeuf Hollier of Jennings; his two sons, Doug Hollier (Janine) of Jennings and Dwight Hollier (Becky) of Jennings; his daughter, Cissy Hollier Gotreaux of Jennings; his 11 grandchildren, Brad, Leslie, Wes, Kelly, David, Will, Chris, Kate, Zack, Mark and Sarah; his eight great-grandchildren, Kevin Hollier, Xander Hollier, Jack Bistok, Annabella Hollier, Nora Gotreaux, Lena Gotreaux, Rachel Gotreaux, Marian Gotreaux and one more expected in December; and his sister, Elsie Hollier Istre of Jennings.

Sidney is now reunited with his family who preceded him in death, including his parents, Lawrence and Alcidee Hollier; his grandson, Matthew Lawrence Hollier; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alma and Remy LeBoeuf.

Carrying Sidney to his final resting place will be David Hollier, Mark Hollier, Will Hollier, Zack Hollier, Wes Gotreaux and Chris Gotreaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady Immaculate School or Immaculate Conception Church.
