July is known as Grill Safety Month because of an increase in grill fires and injuries during this time period.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reported that U.S. fire departments responded to about 10,600 home grill fires per year between 2014 and 2018.
NFPA statistics show that 45 percent of home grill fires occur between the months of June and August.
