Louisiana has long been a powerhouse of American industry, with our railroads serving as the lifeblood of commerce and transportation. Our railways crisscross the state, connecting our communities and natural resources to the world. Yet, Congress — led by U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas — threatens to derail this economic artery with the Railroad Safety Enhancement Act.
Children will soon be trading in lazy days and fun in the sun for structured days in a classroom summer vacation gives way to the start of a new academic year. A looming first day of school has children across the parish stocking their backpacks and shopping for new school wardrobes.
President Trump could have easily died last week. The bullet whizzed by his head close enough to injure his ear. Had his head been turning in a different direction, or at a different angle, he would likely have been killed.
Dear Editor, I would like to discuss the importance of Early Childhood Education since it’s not an important topic to some people. It takes a village ensure a child has a successful life, so why cut back on the Childcare Assistance Program as known as CCAP? Parents are already struggling to work, pay bills and give their children a good environment, so they can financially support the children. How do you expect a working parent to work full-time and go back home to do parenting duties or after-school activities? That’s hard, and I am a mother of five young kids!
