Dos and don’ts of healthy weight loss

Maintaining a healthy weight promotes longterm health. Being overweight or obese are risk factors for various conditions, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The World Health Organization reports that the worldwide obesity rate has tripled since 1975. In 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults were overweight. Of these, more than 650 million were obese.

KC State Soccer Challenge Winners Announced

On Nov. 13, the Knights of Columbus (KC) State Youth Soccer Challenge was held in Baton Rouge. Two young athletes representing KC Council 2012 won state championships in their respective age group categories. Kiera Mehal (left) was the 9-yearold girls champion and Jordan Mehal (center) was the 14-yearold boys winner. These two young people are the children of Garrett and Christina Mehal, a Knights of Columbus family from KC Council 2012. Grand Knight Frank Angelle (right) of KC Council 2012 presented gift certificates to the two honorees during the Council’s December meeting at the KC Hall, north of Jennings.
