Bringing your family together for a meal that tastes like summer is what the season is all about. If you’re spending an evening firing up the grill, flipping on the oven, forming a homemade salad or anything in-between, the time spent together enjoying warm weather flavors is what everyone truly craves.

When seeking friends, some people look toward the exotic representations of that idea: people who will fund a trip for them to Key West or the Caribbean, or those who will enhance their social status, work success or financial situation.

Katherine Amanda Doucet and Dr. Zachary Cade Crochet, both of Baton Rouge, were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings. Rev. Keith Pellerin, pastor, officiated the double-ring ceremony.

On those days when home cooks are searching the cupboards and refrigerator for some culinary inspiration, they need look no further than the egg carton. Often relegated to breakfast time, eggs can be the main ingredient or stars of meals any time of the day. In fact, they’re a common component of quiches, fritatas and souffles.

Here at the LSU AgCenter, we choose new Louisiana Super Plant selections each fall and spring. Usually, only a particular cultivar or variety of a plant receives this prestigious designation. But this year, we couldn’t pick just one.
