Individuals who are approaching retirement or those who already have said goodbye to the working world may find they are ready to make some life changes. Travel is something many older adults enjoy when they have much more free time to see the sights.

Last year, then-freshman Auto Breaux attended the State Beta Convention in Baton Rouge and represented Lake Arthur High School (LAHS) in the ninth grade Math Competition. He placed fifth in the state, which qualified him for nationals in Dallas. Due to COVID, the actual convention was canceled but qualifiers competed virtually. This year’s state convention was also virtual. Auto again represented LAHS, this time competing in the 10th grade Math Competition. He placed second in the state, which qualifies him to compete nationally at the convention to be held this summer in Disney World.

Dr. Shiela Harmon Martin, professor of political science, has spent 46 years of dedicated service in the academy as an educator and practitioner of politics. She possesses a diverse professional background that includes teaching in the discipline of political science, local and federal government service and administrative leadership.
