Inevitably, there comes a Christmas when “holly, jolly” just doesn’t seem to capture the mood.

Jeff Davis Parish Chamber of Commerce welcomed Matt’s Appliances to Jennings this week. A ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday at the new store, located at 314 Shankland Ave.

Welsh Fire Department (WFD) recently held its annual Christmas, a tradition it has participated in for over half a century. WFD Chief John Hall thanked those in his department and their families for making the necessary sacrifices to keep their town and its residents safe. Special tokens of thanks were awarded to attendees, including Welsh Chief of Police Marcus Crochet and Firefighter Aaron Sonnier. At the end of the evening, Hall announced firefighter Mark Boudreaux was named the 2023 WFD Firefighter of the Year.

Knights of Columbus (KC) Council 2012 Grand Knight Frank Angelle (right) presents the Knight of the Month award to Mason LeJeune. LeJeune is a Fourth-degree Knight. He currently serves as Council Chancellor and is the manager of the council hall. LeJeune is a very active member of KC Council 2012, participating in many of the charitable events of the council, including the monthly distribution held by the Diocese of Lake Charles Catholic Charities. LeJeune also serves the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic community as a faithful Eucharistic Minister.
