L ast week, I was mugged. It was one of those classic “push and grab” affairs, where one person distracts you by pretending to accidentally bump into you and the other takes your wallet.
T he Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Free File Guided Tax Preparation service is live and ready for taxpayers to use. Free File can save families, especially those with children, some money in 2023 plus find tax benefits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and is one of many free options available to taxpayers for filing their taxes either online or in person.

While the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (BESE) heads back to the drawing board to lay out early education standards for the state, parish residents can rest easy knowing that there are several organizations that are and have been invested in ensuring that the youngest residents in our community are set up for success.
