SPR has a history of providing emergency supply in time of need

The Jeff Davis Parish Landfill Commission recently discussed on-going issues with the landfill operator’s — Republic Services — non-compliance with the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The Jeff Davis Police Jury demonstrated healthy finances and no instances of noncompliance in their financial records, as indicated in a recent audit.

The Jeff Davis Parish Landfill Commission is weighing future options regarding the landfill owned by the City of Jennings, the towns of Welsh and Lake Arthur and the police jury. Options being considered include the possibility of Requests for Proposals (RFP), entering a new contract with current operators or selling the landfill.

The Louisiana Legislator’s Auditor’s Office recently released the results of an annual audit for Jeff Davis Communities Against Domestic Abuse for the fiscal years ending Dec. 31, 2023, and 2024.

— Gov. Jeff Landry appointed Michael Hare as the new executive director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority this week, replacing Glenn Ledet, who now serves as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

— The U.S. Senate has passed the Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act, a bipartisan bill sponsored by Sens. John Kennedy, R-La., and Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., that would expand federal tax filing relief to individuals affected by state-declared disasters.
