WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court has ruled that individual judges lack the authority to grant nationwide injunctions, but the decision leaves unclear the fate of President Donald Trump’s restrictions on birthright citizenship. The outcome Friday was a victory for Trump, who has complained about individual judges throwing up obstacles to his agenda. But a conservative majority left open the possibility that the birthright citizenship changes could remain blocked nationwide. The Republican president’s order would deny citizenship to U.S.born children of people who are in the country illegally.

Iran retaliated Monday by firing missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar, though no casualties were reported.

The Louisiana CO2 Alliance spent long hours at the recent state legislative session fighting for increased balance between citizen property rights, safety, insurance and local government authority against oil and gas industry proponents. The four-parish alliance including Allen, Vernon, Beauregard and Jeff Davis parishes seek to provide representation for local residents and governing bodies concerning carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects slated in the area. Companies such as Occidental Petroleum (Oxy), ExxonMobile and Shell Global are seeking class VI injection well permits that would inject millions of tons of condensed carbon dioxide (CO2) to be pumped underground below Louisiana water aquifers, including the Chicot aquifer that provides 40% of the state’s fresh groundwater.
