Commission to address landfill violations
The Jeff Davis Parish Sanitary Landfill Commission is working to address solid waste and stormwater compliance issues after receiving a report from Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality listing continuous violations. Operations of the landfill are managed by Republic Services, the contracted operator, which is aware of the violations.
Noel sentenced on drug charges
Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Lauren released the sentencing outcome for a local man with several drug charges. Twenty-year-old Patrick Allen Noel Jr. of Welsh faced 31st Judicial District Judge Steve Gunnell to be sentenced for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, a felony in violation of R.S. 40:967 (A)(1)(B)(1)(a), possession of Psilocybin with intent to distribute, a felony in violation of R.S.40:966(A)(1)(B)(1)(a), and possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, a felony in violation of R.S.40:967(A)(1)(B)(4).

Law student gains valuable experience in district court
As part of a comprehensive legal internship, Louisiana State University Law Center student Katie Meno recently had the opportunity to sound the docket in both misdemeanor and juvenile courts as part of her summer internship with the Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney’s Office under District Attorney Lauren Heinen’s leadership.
