(The Center Square) — Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said Wednesday the state will ask the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to vacate the Food and Drug Administration’s 2023 mifepristone rules after a federal judge concluded Louisiana has standing to sue.

(The Center Square) — A proposed expansion of the Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas export facility in Louisiana could threaten the federally protected eastern black rail, a marsh bird, according to new environmental analysis done by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury appointed Roger Mallet as their new representative on the parish Economic Development board with a tie-breaking vote by Jury President Butch LaFargue. The jury’s previous appointee, Tony Trahan, was unable to fulfill the remaining one-year term expiring at the end of the year. The board chose between two nominees, Roger Mallet nominated by Juror Steve Eastman and John Morceaux nominated by Tim McKnight, with juror option to name and vote for a separate person, if desired.
