The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is requiring Jeff Davis Parish Sanitary Landfill Commission contract operators, Republic Services, to address an issue with a non-permitted pond on landfill property. In response, the commission’s board recently approved sending a letter to Republic Services requesting a detailed plan of action to correct the problem and regain compliance.

Jeff Davis Parish native and artist Cody Broussard recently received the honor of a solo exhibition at the Historic City Hall Arts and Culture Center. The Cajun Culture Exhibition runs through May 10 and features charcoal drawings by Broussard, centered around his life growing up in the Cajun country. The art and culture center is located at 1001 Ryan St. in Lake Charles.
