A special ceremony to remember the country’s military servicemen and women continues to grow since a simple idea turned into a nationwide movement after an iconic picture in 2005 showed beautiful Christmas wreaths adorning snow-covered graves of the fallen at Arlington National Cemetery. The movement is called Wreaths Across America and currently spans all 50 states and 4,600 locations.

Holiday parties are in full swing and the Jeff Davis Parish Council on Aging is preparing for their annual Christmas party for aging residents sponsored by Entergy. Food and many door prizes will be provided by Entergy, but the council is looking for any donations of raffle items with proceeds helping fund the next party geared toward community and fellowship among area seniors.

Jeff Davis Parish citizens who go above and beyond for residents in the area are being sought as nominees for an annual contest.

BATON ROUGE — Last week, the Louisiana Public Service Commission unanimously approved the sale of CenterPoint Energy’s two natural gas utility assets in Louisiana to Delta Utilities, a corefocused natural gas utility based in New Orleans. A joint application between the parties requesting approval of the sale was filed with the LPSC on April 23, 2024.
