Genealogy group meeting set
A group of parish residents who discovered a passion for learning more about family history is holding its monthly meeting and inviting the public to attend. The Genealogical Society of Jennings will be meeting from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Jeff Davis Arts and Technology Center, located at 137 North Main St. in Jennings.

Rice video contest offers JDP seniors scholarship opportunity
September is National Rice Month and USA Rice is holding their annual Reel Rice contest, where graduating seniors from Jeff Davis Parish can create and submit a video all about rice with an opportunity to win $5,000 in scholarship funding. The contest will award three scholarships. The deadline to submit videos is Oct. 15.
LA to get new boardwalk lights, pickleball court
