The Jeff Davis Parish school system is offering the state placement test for students transferring to public schools. Those who are eligible must be entering fifth and ninth grade for the 2024-25 school year and transferring from an in-state nonpublic school, approved home study program or out-of-state school. There is no cost to participate and testing will take place May 13-14 at the Jeff Davis Parish Media Center, located at 720 East Plaquemine St. in Jennings. LAKE ARTHUR — The town is putting on its annual Art in the Park, a day filled with homemade crafts, retail goods, food and music for residents to enjoy at the newly renovated Lake Arthur Park near the lake front.
