ELTON — The town council here met with representatives from the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana on Monday to discuss a partnership that would benefit both areas. The tribe is planning to financially assist the Town of Elton with a road project that would add safety features for both motorists and pedestrians.
The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury held a special meeting Monday with the parish advisory committee to discuss recommendations for the new parish administrator position.
Parish residents will have the opportunity to responsibly dispose of unused and expired prescriptions this weekend thanks to local law enforcement. Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Drug Enforcement Administration, is holding National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. JDSO will be accepting prescription medication at its main office, located at 1530 U.S. 90 West in Jennings.

Time is winding down for the free weekly concert series Turn It Up Tuesday, but area music lovers will still have another chance to gather on Tuesday, April 23 in downtown Jennings for some toe-tapping tunes. The live music event is presented by Jeff Davis Arts Council, which presents free concerts each spring and fall and this season’s series runs through May 7 at Founders Park in Jennings.
