A Welsh man was found guilty on felony charges after a swift trial in the 31st Judicial District Court. Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney’s Office announced this week that Jalawrence Da’Neal White was convicted by a 12-person jury of aggravated flight from an officer, a felony in violation of La. R.S. 14:108.1(C). The incident involved White fleeing from Jennings Police Officer Ryan Courville during a routine traffic stop last year. The defendant fled in a manner that endangered human life. White was taken into custody on March 17, 2025, and booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Regional Consolidated Jail Facility.

The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury has extended warming shelter hours through Monday afternoon. The shelter is housed in the William E. Broussard Multi-Purpose Building, located at 814 South Lake Arthur Ave. and will remain open through Monday, Feb. 2 at noon. All residents of Jeff Davis Parish in need of a place out of the freezing cold are welcomed, including families, single adults and couples, though pets are not allowed.
