LAKE ARTHUR — A new holiday hunt will be underway soon in the loveable style of “Beaux the Mischievous Christmas Elf” who led area youth on a holiday adventure throughout Lake Arthur in 2023. After a one-year hiatus, the festive holiday hunt is back and will feature the introduction of a new character, Meaux Sneaux, as this year’s Christmas Festival theme is Winter Wonderland in honor of the great snowfall experienced in January.

The state-mandated school employee stipends were reported in the Friday, Nov. 21 edition of Jennings Daily News. Of the approximately 1,000 employees of the school district, 784 staff members and teachers were eligible for the extra check.

Parish students honored for test performance
(AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says only 776 of the nearly 20,000 air traffic controllers and technicians who had to work without pay during the shutdown will receive bonuses. The announcement means thousands without perfect attendance during the shutdown won't receive the $10,000 bonuses that President Donald Trump suggested. Many controllers called out of work as they dealt with the financial pressure of not getting a paycheck. Some got side jobs, but others simply couldn’t afford the child care or gas they needed to work.
