Time is running out for the community to take advantage of the free concert series Turn It Up Tuesday at Founder’s Park.
Accordion enthusiasts will get an opportunity to learn from Emmy-winning accordion artist Steve Riley thanks to a local sponsorship. The Cajun Family Chapter of the CFMA (Cajun French Music Association) is hosting an accordion workshop with local talent Riley, at no charge. The workshop will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. at the Gator Chateau, located at 100 Rue de l’Acadie in Jennings.

(The Center Square) — A report from the Early Childhood Care and Education Commission is urging Louisiana leaders to lock in a decade of new earlychildhood funding, warning that child-care shortages are sidelining parents from the labor force and dulling the state’s growth prospects. In a report titled “Building on What Works,” the panel links affordable, high-quality care for infants and toddlers to Louisiana’s ability to fill tens of thousands of anticipated jobs and sustain recent economic momentum. The document also notes that its “findings and recommendations are the Commission’s alone and do not represent the Louisiana Department of Education’s position.'
The Punishers Rougarou Chapter awarded a monetary donation to Jeff Davis Communities Against Domestic Abuse during the Taste-n-Tell fundraiser this week. Each year, the group donates to ensure CADA can continue with its mission against domestic abuse.
