With the first day of spring on Friday, the days will be warmer in Jeff Davis Parish, and many residents will find themselves partaking once again in outdoor activities, including fishing.
In an unusual three-game series, the Jennings High Diamond Dogs met the Lions of Covenant Christian High School of Houma. The first game on Thursday night was played on the road in Houma, followed by home games in Jennings on Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs welcomed the Lady Rebels of Midland Friday evening at Tom Precht Field in Jennings on the heels of a two-game winning streak, looking to build on their early-season success.
The Lake Arthur High Tigers have been busy facing opponents at home and on the road. Recently, the team took on the Notre Dame Pios, the Bell City Bruins and the Hathaway Hornets. The Tigers took a hit from the Pios, 1-15, but grabbed a 15-0 win over the Hornets and a 17-3 victory over the Bruins.
The Lake Arthur High Lady Tigers welcomed the Notre Dame Lady Pios to their home field for a softball contest. The Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Pios with a final score of 2-16.

The Diamond Dogs of Jennings High came into Tuesday night’s contest against the Patriots of North Vermillion looking to end a two-game losing skid, but the Pats would use dominant pitching and solid hitting to take a 12-2 victory.
LACASSINE — For the first time since the Lacassine Sports Complex’s completion, Lacassine High baseball and softball teams welcomed opponents to contests on their home fields on the same night, both walking away with big wins.
