The Elton High School softball program will be holding a fundraiser to support the team on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 5-7 p.m. at McDonald’s, located at 1740 Elton Rd. in Jennings.
Welsh junior high students debuted their firstever softball team this week.
Elton High School running back Makelin Lemoine was recently named the Louisiana High School on SI Class 1A Football Player of the Year, distinguishing himself as one of the top performers in his class and cementing his status as one of the state’s elite players. Lemoine has worked hard in the classroom and is known as a bright student. The junior running back also shines on the football field as a key player for the EHS Indians, with reports hailing him as a 2,000yard rusher.
The Welsh-Roanoke Junior High WAR Pups traveled this week to take on the Lake Arthur Junior High Tigers. The WAR A and B teams were victorious, winning 18-0 and

ELTON — The Jennings boys’ and girls’ basketball teams traveled north to play parish rival Elton this week. In the girls’ game, the Lady Dogs lead 20-9 at halftime, but the Lady Indians made a run and tied the game at 29 early in the fourth period. However, Jennings secured the win with a final score of 43-38 before the final buzzer. In the boys’ game, Jennings took a 2-0 lead, but it was all Elton as the Indians led 25-17 at halftime and rolled on to their 48-33 win.
