ELTON – No. 6 Delhi got a bit of redemption Monday night in the Class 1A quarterfinals as they came on the road to Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) and earned a 45-41 win over No. 3 Elton in a rematch of last year’s state championship game. After being down by seven at halftime to the Lady Indians, Delhi rallied to hold down the prolific offense of Elton to claim the 4-point win to advance to a semi-final match-up with No.7 White Castle. STANLEY – For the first time since 2016, the Lacassine Lady Cardinals are heading back to the Top 28 girls’ state tournament, following a 79-68 win over No. 3 Stanley on the road. The No. 6 Lady Cardinals created more of a stir to the event’s name of “Marsh Madness”, as they will set up quite a storyline when they duke it out with fellow Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) rival Hathaway in the semifinals at Burton Coliseum this week. The two teams split a pair of regular season contests in district play, but this one will have just a little more spice to it with a chance for either to play for a Class B state championship.

LAKE ARTHUR - The No. 4 Lake Arthur Lady Tigers punhed their return trip to the Top 28 Tournament last night by earning a 74-66 win over No. 5 Amite at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium in front of a packed house.

LAKE CHARLES - The McNeese Baseball team explode for nine runs in the bottom of the third inning to snap their two-game losing streak with a 12-4 victory over the Missouri Tigers Wednesday afternoon in Joe Miller Ballpark.

BATON ROUGE – The LSU offense erupted for 11 hits in a 7-1 win over instate opponent Louisiana Tech Wednesday night at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

With the 2020 LHSAA boys’ playoff brackets announced Monday, five area schools drew bids to the postseason. Hathaway led the way by drawing a No. 3 seed in the Class B bracket, while Lake Arthur was able to pull a No. 8 seed out in Class 2A. Elton grabbed a No. 13 seed and will host a first round game, while Lacassine and Jennings will both hit the road for their first test.

Elton Lady Indian standout Summer Ceaser (center) recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at Louisiana State University-Eunice (LSUE). Ceaser led Elton to a 2019 Class A state championship, and has the Lady Indians back in the quarterfinals again in 2020.

LAKE ARTHUR -The No. 4 Lake Arthur Lady Tigers blasted No, 13 Springfield 80-36 on Monday night to put themselves one win away from another Top 28 appearance. Lake Arthur will now host No. 5 Amite on Thursday night in the Class 2A quarterfinals, with a trip to Burton Coliseum on the line.
