EUNICE — It was a tale of two halves here Friday night, but the second half belonged to the Welsh Greyhounds, as they swept aside an 8-7 halftime deficit and stormed to a 39-16 win over the Eunice Bobcats in a non-district battle. The Greyhounds, who now possess a 3-2 worksheet, had a grand total of 87 yards of offense at intermission before the second half surge.
ROSEPINE — The visiting Lake Arthur Tigers football team imposed their will on both offense and defense in their 42-0 win over the struggling Rosepine Eagles Friday. The Tigers led 27-0 at halftime and would score three touchdowns and a safety in the second half. The Tigers defense would get four turnovers with two fumble recoveries and two interceptions in their shutout of the Eagles.
Going Streaking
Both the Lake Arthur Tigers and Elton Indians will be looking to move to 4-1 tonight when each face a non-district foe in week five of the high school football season. The Tigers of Lake Arthur will travel north tonight to take on the Rosepine Eagles, while the Indians will be at the confines of Cleve Beard Stadium to match-up with the Hanson Memorial Tigers.
WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds got back to 500 this past week with a 28-0 shutout over the previously unbeaten South Beauregard Golden Knights. Welsh used a strong rushing game that ran for over 300 yards and a stout defense that limited the Knights to just over 100 yards of total offense to get the muchneeded win. Welsh moves to 2-2 for the season and will now jump from playing a class 3-A opponent to taking on the class 4-A Eunice Bobcats.
LONGVILLE — The Welsh Greyhounds showed the total team effort their coaches had been looking for Friday night, and the result was a resounding 28-0 win over the previously unbeaten South Beauregard Knights in a non-district clash. Welsh is now even for the season at 2-2, while the Knights fall to 3-1.
